HALCYON LEVI
Walks with the Wind Woman

Halcyon Levi is a Southern Cheyenne, Arapaho, and Kiowa artist who grew up in Southwestern Oklahoma. In June 2026, Halcyon graduated from the University of Denver with a degree in Anthropology, becoming one of the few direct descendants of the Sand Creek Massacre to graduate from the university founded by John Evans, who was later found culpable for his role in the massacre.

Her artwork has been recognized and exhibited across the country, with much of her work created in colored pencil and ink on antique ledger paper. She currently has work on view in Colorado Currents at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver and in an exhibition at Exhibit C in Oklahoma City. Along with her studio practice, Halcyon’s background in anthropology, museums, archaeology, and community work continues to influence the way she approaches her art.

At the center of her work is the life that continues beyond these histories, taking inspiration from her family, wildlife, homelands, traditional knowledge, and the everyday experiences of Native people today. Her pieces are a way of carrying those stories forward while creating something that is also entirely her own.
